Shiawassee Mills #420, Linden Michigan

Since most of our members are residents of Fenton and Linden, we selected our name from a historic fact common to both communities.  Both towns are located along the Shiawassee River.  Fenton was founded as a mill town of Dibbleville, and Linden was built around Warner’s Mills.  The Shiawassee River furnished power for their sawmills as well as an easy route for the logs that were floated down the river rather than hauled over the rough and sometimes impassable roads.  The old mill in Linden is still standing and is listed as one of Michigan’s historic sites.

The Shiawassee Mills Chapter #429 was chartered on April 1, 1970.
